With a background in farming, Steve Lewin completed an agricultural science degree back in the mid-70s at Massey University. Since farming incorporates science as well as business disciplines, he followed that up with an MBA from Otago and by 1982 entered the technology industry. Throughout his career, Steve has handled multiple aspects of business technology, from database design and management, programming, network management, project management and more. He has led the development of major business and Management Information Systems for private companies and in the public sector, before starting and running QLBS.com Limited, a global business which still runs out of Albany on Auckland’s North Shore.
Looking for a change of pace from the rigours of international travel, Steve joined Verde Group in 2008 as Senior Consultant, working together with company founder Vlad Kozak to deliver the first live implementation of Greentree. As part of this process, Steve built the first version of the Excel Add-in. He has subsequently led the creation of multiple Greentree add-ins and extensions, a hardware strategy to maximise Greentree performance (which became the GO Server programme), the DataSure programme and monitoring systems, and scripting using the AA Module, and the HAL Stock Replenishment System. More recently, Steve developed a tool set for EDI document import/export.
With his depth and breadth of experience, Steve takes particular satisfaction in working with clients focussed on moving their organisations forward. He takes an evolutionary approach to developing customised business logic which delivers rapid results, building trust and enthusiasm for the continued development of new performance-enhancing functions and processes. With his results-focused approach, it’s no wonder he looks up to Robert Townsend, writer of “Up the Organisation”, a book which carves through academic posturing to demonstrate how organisations should be managed.
Away from putting technology to work to solve the world’s problems, you’ll find Steve out hunting, gliding, motorcycling or wheeling.
